NFL Draft: WVU's White goes to Dolphins in second round
Saturday, April 25, 2009

West Virginia quarterback Pat White was a surprise second round selection in the NFL draft today but it remains to be seen what position he ends up playing.

White was selected by the Miami Dolphins with the 12th pick of the second round (44th player overall).

He will, at least at the start of his career, be more of a wild card player -- i.e. the "slash" role made famous by Kordell Stewart during the early part of his Steelers career.

He almost assuredly will figure in at quarterback in the Dolphins "Wildcat" formations but he could also be used as a receiver and a kick returner.
