A Pittsburgh Allderdice High School student has received a national award for the business plan she developed for a clothing company.
Katharine Jones, a sophomore at the Squirrel Hill school, was one of 30 Global Youth Entrepreneurs honored April 16 by the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship in New York.
The nonprofit foundation provides entrepreneurship curricula to schools and community groups, many in low-income areas. Thousands of students are considered for the awards each year.
Katharine was recognized for developing a business plan for a company called K. Jones T-shirt, which would provide clothing with an Allderdice theme and allow buyers to add personal touches, such as names and uniform numbers.
