Pitt lands Penn Hills defensive tackle
Thursday, April 23, 2009

Pitt landed its second football commitment for the class of 2010 today when Penn Hills defensive tackle Aaron Donald called associate head coach Greg Gattuso and told him he wanted to become a Panther.

It is a major recruiting coup for Gattuso, who is primarily in charge of recruiting Western Pennsylvania, and the Panthers as Donald is considered one of the top defensive linemen in the state.

Donald, who is 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, was a member of the Post-Gazette's Fab 22 last season as he was a dominant force on the Indians interior defensive front.

He had scholarship offers from Toledo, Rutgers and Akron and major interest from Syracuse, North Carolina State and Purdue.

He would have had a number of offers had he waited for the camp circuit this summer but he decided to commit to the Panthers early and get the process out of the way.
