Thursday, April 23, 2009

Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end and current Robert Morris University assistant head football coach John Banaszak is in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Allegheny General Hospital after becoming ill last night, Robert Morris sports information director Jim Duzyk confirmed.

A report on the KDKA Web site said Banaszak, 58, "suffered multiple aneurysms."

"I can say that there has been no confirmation that an aneurysm has occurred, although nothing has been ruled out yet," Duzyk said.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
