Wednesday, April 22, 2009

A postal carrier from Beechview was indicted on federal charges yesterday for allegedly stealing a book about breakups and $25 from a greeting card out of the mail she was to deliver.

Kathleen M. Evans, 49, of Pittsburgh, is charged with two counts of theft of mail.

According to the U.S. attorney's office, Ms. Evans removed the book, "It's Called a Breakup Because It's Broken," on April 30, 2008. In addition, prosecutors say she removed $25 from a greeting card the next day.
