Man charged in Vanderbilt strangulation death
Monday, April 20, 2009

A Fayette County man was charged this afternoon with homcide in the Saturday strangulation death of another man at a home in Vanderbilt.

State police said Richard Leroy Henry Jr., 38, of Vanderbilt, "entered into a physical confrontation" with Eric Todd Fetsco, 38, of Connellsville, about 11 p.m. Saturday. Troopers were notified that Mr. Fetsco had been taken to Highlands Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police examined the crime scene, a home in the 100 block of Main Street in Vanderbilt.

Witnesses told troopers that Mr. Fetsco "became blue and had trouble breathing" once Mr. Henry "got off of" him after the fight, and several people carried him outside to a private vehicle. A friend drove him to the hospital, they said.

A Sunday autopsy revealed that Mr. Fetsco died of asphxiation due to compression of the neck and that his death was a homicide.

Mr. Henry, who surrendered to police with his attorney about 2 p.m., was later arraigned by District Judge Dwight Shaner. His preliminary hearing is April 28.
