A man was killed and the passenger in his car was injured in a one-vehicle crash Friday in Somerset County.
State police identified the victim as Gary J. Molitsky, 27, of Patton, Cambria County. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.
He and his passenger, Philip G. Reich, 27, of Meyersdale, Somerset County, were taken to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown, Cambria County.
According to police, the crash occurred about 3:10 p.m. on East Mud Pike Road near Bognar Road. Mr. Molitsky was traveling at a high speed and drove into the oncoming lane when his car went over a small rise, police said. Mr. Molitsky over-corrected when he swerved, causing his car to spin clockwise.
The vehicle struck an embankment, went airborne and struck trees and shrubs as it rolled into a field, police said.
