Lake Erie: Steelhead fishing is essentially over and the tributaries are loaded with suckers. The tributaries closed today at 12:01 a.m. and will reopen tomorrow at 8 a.m. Some anglers were fishing Presque Isle Bay for crappies and other panfish in recent days.
Conneaut Lake (Crawford County): Bluegills were hitting in the northern channels as water temperatures warmed in recent days.
Pymatuning Lake (Crawford County): Wading anglers continued to catch walleyes in recent days. The crappie bite was expected to improve in the shallows of "the stumps" near the Linesville launch on the north end. The floating fishing pier adjacent to Linesville Marina and the earthen pier adjacent to the spillway are open. Anglers are reminded the horsepower limit is now 20hp.
Lake Arthur (Butler County): Bruce Finke of Prospect caught a citation-size 2-pound 4-ounce, 161/4-inch crappie on a fathead minnow April 11. Releases of a few walleyes and largemouth bass and numbers of catfish were reported along with a few hybrid striped bass up to 8 pounds.
Lake Wilhelm (Mercer County): Anglers were catching crappies in the early morning and evening hours at Launch 3 and Sheakleyville Bridge. Numbers of largemouth bass also were reported in shallow water this week.
Allegheny River: Fishing continued to pick up on the river in recent days, with anglers releasing walleyes in the mid-20-inch range and smallmouth bass, including a couple of 4-pounders, mostly from shore at Highland Park Dam, Lock 3, and the mouth of Deer Creek.
Monongahela River: Zach Luncinski of Roscoe, Pa., caught a 22-inch northern pike on a crankbait April 13 near Roscoe.
Loyalhanna Lake (Westmoreland County): Crappie action picked up recently, and, one angler caught a 15-incher. An 18-inch largemouth bass also was reported.
Loyalhanna Creek (Westmoreland County): Activity continued in the Delayed Harvest section, and anglers reported the late day-early evening bite was most productive.
Conemaugh River (Armstrong, Westmoreland counties): A 20-inch largemouth was reported last weekend along with releases of several legal-size northern pike.
Chest Creek (Cambria County): The Delayed Harvest section was yielding trout on nymphs and streamers in recent days.
Glendale Lake (Cambria County): Anglers were catching crappies in the coves in recent days.
Wilmore Dam (Cambria County): Anglers were picking up crappies in recent days in this Panfish Enhancement Program water, where crappies and perch must be at least 9 inches and bluegills 7 inches to be harvested.
Cross Creek Lake (Washington County): Good crappie fishing continued on this Panfish Enhancement Program impoundment. Boaters were doing slightly better than shore anglers.
Raystown Lake (Huntingdon County): Dean Murray of West Deer and Wes Paskorz of Harwick won the April 11 Keystone Bass Buddy Circuit tournament with a 6-fish limit of 181/2 pounds. The 51/4-pound lunker was boated by George Kuzemchak and Mike Coccia. In all, 118 teams caught 172 bass, including 74 smallmouths and 98 largemouths, weighing 4871/4 pounds.
Deep Creek Lake (Maryland): Anglers were catching walleyes as they pre-fished for upcoming tournaments this weekend.
