More than 1,300 people turned out for Pittsburgh's own "American Idol," a competition open to all college students known as "Campus Superstar." Presented by Hillel Jewish University Center of Pittsburgh, the event was held on April 5 at the Carnegie Music Hall. This year the three top winners were all from Carnegie Mellon, with Roberta Burke taking the top prize, a $5,000 scholarship. The runners-up -- Lilli Passero and Amanda Jane Cooper -- each received $1,000 scholarships. The culmination of a monthlong "search," the talent was as awesome as the funds raised -- more than $200,000 for various programs initiated by Hillel.
