On Saturday, April 4, 2009, Officers Paul Sciullo II, Eric G. Kelly and Stephen J. Mayhle were killed responding to a domestic disturbance call in the Stanton Heights neighborhood of Pittsburgh. In the days that followed, the people of the City of Pittsburgh came together to pay their respects to these men. They came to know the three not just as police officers, but as individuals with families, friends and an inspiring sense of duty to their community. As the officers made their final journey, police from around the region, from around the country and from Canada formally saluted their fallen comrades as a city offered its own farewell with heartfelt thanks for their dedication.
