• Cafe Georgio, Bethel Park, has expanded its blue plate specials ($13) to include petite filet, scampi with pasta, la pasta with chicken and chicken alfredo. Blue plate specials include a featured side dish (except pastas), Breadworks bread, salad and dessert, as well as your choice of coffee, tea or soda. WINE AND DINE

• Soba, Shadyside, will have a special menu Monday through April 16 to celebrate Songkran, Thai New Year. This year's four-course tasting menu is inspired by Thai street food, including phanaeng nuea -- beef on sugar cane -- and fried sesame coconut bananas; $35 per person, optional wine package $20; reservations recommended; 412-362-5656; www.bigburrito.com/soba.

• The Carlton, Downtown, is having a wine dinner April 17 featuring the powerful Italian wine Barbaresco. Stan "The Wine Man" Lalic will select and present seven wines, including five barbarescos, over five courses; 6:30 p.m., $99 per person; 412-391-4152, thecarltonrestaurant.com.

NEW OFFERINGS

• The Naked Grape, Sewickley, is now open. At this wine bistro, owner Ryta Mirisciotti likes to say "wine is the star of the show and food is an important supporting actor." Its international wine list includes 40 wines by the glass, and small plates for dinner so people can mix and match food to go with the wine.
