Settler's Ridge construction is right on track
Thursday, April 02, 2009

The economy may be slow, but work is not on, Robinson's newest commercial attraction on a plateau above Campbells Run Road.

Katie Reinsmidt, a spokesperson for North Carolina development firm Faison Inc., said Settler's Ridge was on course for an opening later this year, most likely in September.

"We haven't had any trouble with stores that are already in," Ms. Reinsmidt said. She said it was hard to gauge which retailers might be on the fence who would have otherwise committed, but the presence of solid anchor tenants is a dependable draw.

"Our approach to development may be a little more conservative than some others," she said.

Settler's Ridge is a highly visible project above the Parkway West by the Ridge Road exit, and it has drawn attention and questions.

"We as commissioners get lots of questions about what's going on up there and about what's going in up there," Robinson commissioners' chairman Dan Tallon said at the March township meeting.

The answers haven't changed much.

According to Ms. Reinsmidt, the confirmed tenants are: a Giant Eagle "Market District" grocery store, a 16-screen Cinemark movie theater, LA Fitness, a P.F. Chang's restaurant, a Courtyard by Marriott hotel and REI, which stands for Recreational Equipment Inc., an outdoor gear store.

The 77-acre, 580,000-square-foot development is being touted as a "lifestyle center," blending office, retail, restaurant and hotel uses in a pedestrian-friendly layout.

Ms. Reinsmidt said there was interest from a number of smaller shops, but that Faison would not make announcements until they are confirmed.
