Police said a heroin deal gone bad resulted in a slaying tonight in Aliquippa, but a suspect was in custody in a little more than an hour.
James Antonis, 20, of Oakdale, died of a gunshot wound to the chest near the Wendy's restaurant at the Aliquippa Shopping Center on Broadhead Road, according to Aliquippa Police Chief Ralph Pallante.
Police, who were called around 7 p.m., said a man who was with Mr. Antonis identified the shooter as 19-year-old Eric Costo, of Hopewell. Chief Pallante said police contacted Mr. Costo's father, a bar owner in Hopewell, and Mr. Costo turned himself in to Hopewell police at about 8:15 p.m.
Mr. Costo was charged with homicide, aggravated assault and carrying a firearm without a license. He was arraigned last night and is being held in the Beaver County Jail.
