McCoy works out for NFL scout's on Pitt's pro-day
Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Pitt tailback LeSean McCoy ran the 40 yard dash in about 4.5 seconds this morning at Pitt's pro-day workouts according to a number of people who observed the proceedings.

McCoy, who was one of 15 players who worked out for scouts representing about two dozen teams, said he was "a little disappointed" in his time -- which varied slightly from team to team (some had him as fast as 4.48 and others closer to 4.52 seconds) because they all had their own timers.

McCoy, who is regarded as a late first round choice, didn't run at the NFL combine last month because he was sick and he had lost some weight. But he has gained most of his weight back -- he is up to 204 pounds -- and he has been working hard to get back into shape. He now will begin working out individually for teams and according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, he has already been scheduled to visit "about a dozen teams".

Two players who may have helped their cause with their performance today were running back LaRod Stephens-Howling, who reportedly ran the fastest time of the day (some had him just under 4.4 seconds) and wide receiver Derek Kinder, who was timed between 4.45 and 4.5 seconds.
