Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received a $1 million gift from Edward K. Bratton of Indiana for the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

Construction of the $53.49 million center began Feb. 16. It is expected to be completed in summer 2011.

Mr. Bratton is the owner of the Giant Eagle store in Indiana.
