Sunday, March 08, 2009

Pitt standouts DeJuan Blair and Sam Young were among six players named first team all-Big East today when the conference announced its men's basketball awards. Pitt, which finished in second place, was the only team with more than one player on the first team.

Blair and Young were joined on the first team by Connecticut's Hasheem Thabeet, Louisville's Terrence Williams, Marquette's Jerel McNeal and Notre Dame's Luke Harangody, who along with Young, was a first-team selection last year as well.

Also, Pitt senior point guard Levance Fields was named to the All-Big East third team.

West Virginia also had a couple of players honored as junior Da'Sean Butler was named to the second team, senior Alex Ruoff was named honorable mention and freshman Devin Ebanks was named to the Big East's All-Rookie team.
