Boy murder suspect moved to juvenile facility
Wednesday, February 25, 2009

The 11-year-old boy accused of shooting his father's pregnant girlfriend was transferred from the Lawrence County Jail to a juvenile detention center in Beaver County early today, according to Lawrence County District Attorney John Bongivengo.

Sheriff's deputies moved Jordan Brown at 7:30 a.m. to the Allencrest Detention Center.

The boy has been charged with two counts of homicide, including the killing of an unborn child. On Friday morning, the body of Kenzie Marie Houk, who lived with Jordan and his father, was found at their farmhouse in New Beaver.

She had been shot in the back of the head as she lay in bed. The suspected murder weapon, a 20-gauge shotgun, was found in Jordan's bedroom.

A preliminary hearing that had been set for tomorrow was postponed to March 24. The boy's attorney said he will delay asking for a bond hearing and to move the case to juvenile court until after the preliminary hearing.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
