The Bloomfield Bridge Tavern has found a perfect way to celebrate its 23rd anniversary -- a grand reopening.
The legendary home of pierogi, imported beer and weekend rock 'n' roll suffered a fire on Oct. 16 and was forced to close while they cleaned up, remodeled, painted and tried to restore some of the damaged artifacts.
As part of the grand reopening Saturday night, the BBT offers pierogies for 23 cents, beer specials, and music by WRCT DJ Mockster, and bands Mr. Devious and Teen Riot. The party starts at 5 p.m.
Maddie Georgi, the 16-year-old singer-songwriter who finished second in the CMT Music City Madness online contest, makes her Garfield Artworks debut Friday in a triple pop-rock bill.
Georgi will be joined by the duo of Clark Slater (formerly of PUSH) and Ben Shannon (Welcome Abraham) and the young band Crossing Boundaries. Georgi will also collaborate with Shannon on a new song they've written together. It begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $5; All ages; BYOB for 21+.
Usually, band tributes come one per night -- like the recent Who-fest at Howler's.
The 31st Street Pub in the Strip takes a different approach Friday with five Pittsburgh bands turning into five legendary ones.
The lineup is Cheap Trick (The CosmoSonics), Motley Crue (Atomic Drops), The Stooges (The Dregs), Rolling Stones (28 North) and Thin Lizzy (The Vagabonds).
Each band will do six songs and then move along. Sounds fun. Starts around 10 p.m. Call 412-391-8334
