Cranberry's dining options are soon to expand with the addition of another restaurant that specializes in ethnic cuisine.
Sawa Japan Steakhouse will occupy a spot in the soon-to-be-built Oak Tree Place shopping plaza along Route 19.
Plans have been submitted to Cranberry supporting a liquor license transfer from Northgate Plaza in Jackson to the new eatery.
Cranberry supervisors voted unanimously at a public meeting Feb. 5 to approve the transfer.
The restaurant is expected to open in November and employ 12 to 15 people.
Plans for Oak Tree Place plaza on 8 acres near Dutihl Road have shifted over the months.
Walnut Capital Partners of Shadyside, the developer, had expected Cracker Barrel to be part of the development. But, the restaurant recently canceled plans to open a franchise there.
At least two other restaurants are planned for Oak Tree.
Golden Corral, a family-style buffet restaurant known for its "all-you-can-eat" sirloin steak; and Chipotle, a Mexican eatery. No plans have been submitted as yet to Cranberry.
