Wannstedt offers offensive coordinator job to Frank Cignetti Jr.

Pitt football coach Dave Wannstedt has offered the Panthers vacant offensive coordinator position to Frank Cignetti Jr., who currently holds a similar position at the University of California, Berkeley.

Cignetti Jr., a Pittsburgh native and the son of the former coach at West Virginia and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, coordinated the Golden Bears offense last season and was the quarterbacks coach of the San Francisco 49ers in 2007.

He was the offensive coordinator at North Carolina in 2006 and Fresno State from 2002-05.

Cignetti has a total of 20 years of coaching experience.
