An elderly woman in Washington County was robbed at gunpoint yesterday by an assailant who broke into her West Brownsville home, state police said.

The woman, 83, told police that around 10 a.m. a man forced his way into her home on Madison Avenue in the Village of Blainesburg.

He was a white male, standing about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He wore s gray hooded sweatshirt.

The man threatened the woman with a handgun, police said.

He stole money and ran away.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was not injured.
