Carroll D. Davis, manager of analytical chemistry for Alcoa Technical Center, was named to the 25-person ASTM International board for 2009-2011.

The National Retail Federation said Robert McFarland, senior vice president and general manager, SAP Retail, was selected to the Associate Member Advisory Council.

Chip Desmone, president of Desmone & Associates Architects, was named president of AIA Pittsburgh for the 2009-2010 term.

Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council appointed its board for 2009. President: Jack Owen, Rhoades & Wodarczyk; vice-president/program: Gordon M. Core, director, Planned Giving, California University of Pennsylvania; secretary: Mary Frances Dean, vice president of development, Baptist Homes Foundation; and treasurer: Aaron B. Moody, financial services representative, MetLife.

Dr. Robert P. Bittel, optometrist at Caste Village, was elected president of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association board of directors.

Banking

S&T Bank appointed Joanne Duggan to senior vice president, retail mortgage lending; Ken Parsons, senior vice president, commercial lending; and Becky Stapleton, senior vice president, employee services.

Broadcasting

Velocity Broadcasting named Jeff Esswein chief operating officer.

Contractor

CentiMark Corp. promoted John Altvater to senior project manager, Great Lakes Region; Cindy Molnar was named national accounts manager, Great Lakes Region.

L. Colvin McCrady Jr., chief executive officer, Simpson & McCrady; and Isaac Tripp IV, president, Etna Products Inc., joined The Kiski School's board.

Fox Learning Systems hired freelance producer and author Gregg Ramshaw to complete the second phase of an informational video series on geriatric psychiatry funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Mental Health.

Spilman Thomas & Battle elected Peter R. Rich a member. Mr. Rich is a labor and employment lawyer with more than 25 years of experience.

Babst Calland Clements & Zomnir named Kurt F. Fernsler and Laura Stone shareholders. Mr. Fernsler is a member of the construction services and litigation services groups. Ms. Stone is a member of the business services and public sector services groups.

Dell Moser Lane & Loughney elected George A. Power an equity member.

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh Inc. named officers for the Catholic Charities and Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center boards of directors.

Catholic Charities board for 2009 are, president: Mark Shepard, shareholder, Babst Calland Clements & Zomnir; vice-president: Marcia Martin, vice-president, Gateway Health Plan; secretary: Mike Clark, news anchor, WTAE-TV; treasurer: Ed Friel, shareholder, Schneider Downs; in addition, Will Cook, president, UPMC Mercy, and Bartley E. Gates, tax director, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP were named new members of the board.

Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center board for 2009 are, president: John D. Goetz, partner, Jones Day; vice-president: Michael Blackwood, president and chief executive officer, Gateway Health Plan; secretary: Dr. Anne Boland Docimo, chief medical officer, UPMC Health Plan and medical director of corporate care management, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center; treasurer: David A. New members of the Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center board of directors are: Tom Antos, M.D., retired internal medicine physician and volunteer at the health care center; Jack Malvin, D.M.D., general dentistry practice, and John P.
