
The Allegheny County Medical Society Foundation Gala held its Celebration of Caring last Saturday, honoring five individuals and two organizations for their contributions to the community. The dinner at the Westin Convention Center also served as a ceremony for the installation of officers, with Dr. Douglas Clough becoming the 144th president of the society and also chair of the ACMS Foundation Board. The other officers are Dr. John Delaney, president-elect; Dr. Leo McCafferty, vice president; Dr. Rajiv Varma, secretary; and Dr. Amelia Pare, treasurer. The honorees were Dr. Caroline Jean Acker (public health), Dr. Edward Kelly (physician volunteer), Dr. Francis Solano (primary care), Every Child Inc. (organization health service), Dr. Jack Demos (international voluntary special), Dr. Gerald Pifer (Frederick M. Jacob Award) and the Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative, which received the ACMS Special Commendation.
