Overnight snow, leftover ice causes some school delays
Thursday, January 29, 2009

A coating of ice leftover from yesterday's storm coupled with a light dusting of snow across the region overnight has prompted many school districts to operate on a delayed schedule this morning.

The Pittsburgh Public Schools are among the districts on a 2-hour delay. See information about school closings and delays on KDKA.com, the Post-Gazette's news partner.

Weather radar around 5:30 a.m. showed much of the snow centered around Allegheny County, Butler County and nearby areas.

The Port Authority's Allentown light-rail line is out of service again today. Riders may use 51A Arlington Heights as alternate route. Bus riders may experience delays across the system.

As the morning progresses, expect generally cloudy skies with highs in the mid to upper 20s and winds from the southwest at 10 to 15 mph.
