Pennsylvania had the highest per capita black murder victimization rate in the country in 2006, according to an analysis of FBI data by a national gun-control advocacy group.
The Violence Policy Center examined unpublished homicide reports compiled by the FBI for 2006, the most recent data available.
The study ranks the states according to the rate of black deaths by homicide per 100,000 population.
Pennsylvania, which recorded 490 black homicide victims in 2006, was No. 1 at 38.86 per 100,000, followed by Michigan, Indiana, Kansas and Nevada.
The Violence Policy Center, which calls itself the most aggressive gun-control group in the country, said this is the second time in three years that Pennsylvania has topped the rankings.
