Jenny Wolf of Germany won the women's 100- and 500-meter races yesterday, while Tucker Fredricks of the United States gained his first win this season in the men's 500 in Kolomna, Russia.
World sprint overall champion Shani Davis of the United States, who sat out the 1,000 Saturday after his leg was cut with one of his skates in a 500 earlier in the day, clocked 1:09.22 to finish fourth in the 1,000 yesterday. He earned 60 points and remains on top of the standings with 590 points, 70 ahead of Denny Morrison of Canada with two races left in the season.
Fredricks won the 500 in 34.81 to edge Keiichiro Nagashima by 0.06 seconds. China's Yu Fengtong was third in 34.89.
Wolf continued her domination in the women's short-distance events, winning her eighth of 10 500-meter races in a new track record of 37.67 seconds. She also clocked 10.33 seconds to remain unbeaten in three 100-meter races this season.
nSlalom: Julien Lizeroux edged Jean-Baptiste Grange in a 1-2 French finish at a men's World Cup slalom in Kitzbuehel, Austria, in which American Bode Miller went out early in the first run after missing a gate. Lizeroux, who had never before been on the World Cup podium, won on the Ganslern course in a total time of 1:33.83, beating Grange by 0.08 seconds. Patrick Thaler of Italy earned his first podium finish, taking third, 0.67 seconds behind Lizeroux. Ted Ligety of the United States, who was 19th after the opening run, went out in his second run.
Giant slalom: American Lindsey Vonn managed to expand her lead in the overall World Cup standings despite finishing 10th in a giant slalom in Cortina D'Ampezzo, Italy, in which Kathrin Zettel led an Austrian sweep. Zettel, who was second after the opening run on the Olympia delle Tofane course, won in 2:47.10, 1.39 ahead Michaela Kirchgasser and 1.71 better than Elisabeth Goergl.

Swiss skier Daniel Albrecht, 25, the reigning super-combined world champion, remained in stable condition but was still in an induced coma, three days after injuring his brain and lungs in a crash in training for a World Cup downhill in Innsbruck, Austria.
