Matthew Wregget
Upper St. Clair
The past week: A junior hockey goaltender for the Panthers, Wregget won four games. Three came in a tournament -- against Pine-Richland, Gilmour Academy and Council Rock -- and one in a PIHL game, a 6-3 victory against Penn-Trafford.
Check this out: Son of former Penguins, Maple Leafs, Flyers, Flames and Red Wings goalie Ken Wregget, Matthew was third in the PIHL in goals against heading into this week at 1.72. He also has a .935 save percentage.
 What has your father taught you? I learned so much from him and he has taught me a lot about everything. He knows so much about the game and especially what it takes to get to the next level. I have listened to everything he's said.
 Did he push you into hockey or did you just want to play? Ever since I first touched a hockey stick, I fell in love with the game.
 Were you ever a skater, or always a goalie? I was a player growing up, and didn't turn into a goalie until I was 12.
 Ever get zinged? How did that feel? The shots that get under your chest protector don't feel that good. Yes, I have gone down once in a game.
 Who is the best player you have ever played with or against? Steve Shipley, he plays for Owen Sound of [Ontario Hockey League] now and I played against him last year. All I remember is that no one could move him, he was like 6 [feet] 2, 200 pounds and you just could not move him.
 Ever get to skate with Mario Lemieux? Oh yeah, I used to skate with the team all the time. I thought it was so awesome just talking and seeing all the guys and then there was Mario, the best hockey player in the world and he was right there on the same ice.
Has the scope of hockey in the area changed? Oh yeah, it has been getting bigger and bigger since [Evgeni] Malkin, [Sidney] Crosby and [Marc-Andre] Fleury have made it so much more popular in Pittsburgh.
 Your favorite postgame meal? I usually go to an Italian restaurant and get chicken parmesan or a bowl of pasta.

Tabitha Bemis
Quaker Valley
The past week:She won all four individual events and the all-around championship at the Moon Invitational gymnastics championship Saturday. The event had gymnasts from 30 schools.
Check this out: Bemis, a 5-foot-5 junior at Quaker Valley, won the WPIAL and Pennsylvania all-around championships as a freshman and sophomore. She is a level-10 gymnast, one step below the Elite class, which is on par with Olympic gymnasts. Bemis also competes in track and field and was the WPIAL Class AA champion in the triple jump as a sophomore.
 Ever win all four individual events at a gymnastics meet? Not at a big meet like the Moon Invitational.
 Which event do you like best? Right now, it's a mix between floor and beam. I've always loved the floor, just for the performance part of it. I kind of like hamming it up and having fun with it.
 Least favorite? Bars, no doubt.
 Do you have a Steelers jersey? I have Ben [Roethlisberger], Troy [Polamalu], Hines [Ward] and another yellow one of Hines. I am very into football and the Steelers.
 If you could have any Steelers player to your house for dinner, who would it be?Troy Polamalu. He's such a humble player. I try to be humble … and I could probably learn a few things from him.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I definitely would like to be graduated from Penn State and hoping to be an athletic trainer. Then we'll see where that takes me.
