Pick a buddy or a burger

It's been a tough time for some folks in the Facebook web of friends. "Whopper Sacrifice," a Burger King promotion within the site, has been offering a free Whopper to anyone who would delete 10 people in their Facebook network.

People across the country began to find that in some cases, their Facebook friendships were worth 37 cents.

Let the healing begin.

A new Facebook group called the Burger King Sacrificial Virgins Group is extending friendship -- on a temporary basis -- to anyone who wants to dump them. "Why not join our group and find people you don't know or care about to sacrifice?" the group invitation reads.

And Facebook has stepped in, citing user privacy issues. Facebook friends no longer get a message that they've been deleted. Now, at least, the unfriended won't know who they are.
