Center Sidney Crosby, injured late in the Penguins' 6-3 loss to Washington at Mellon Arena last night, did not participate in their optional practice today, but defenseman Sergei Gonchar was among the 15 players who did.
Crosby is listed as day-to-day and his status for the Penguins' home game against Anaheim tomorrow at 7:38 p.m. will be determined in the morning. He said today that an examination did not detect any serious damage.
He appeared to hurt his left knee when he fell over Capitals forward David Steckel while trying to hit him with a little over four minutes left in the third period.
Forward Max Talbot, who got an unspecified injury in the Washington game, skipped today's practice, as did defenseman Rob Scuderi, who took a shot in the forehead during the first period. Their status is also listed as day-to-day.
Gonchar worked out on the ice with his teammates for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair a dislocated shoulder he received on a hit from Tampa Bay's David Koci in the first exhibition game in September. Gonchar is not expected to return to the lineup until March.
