President-elect Barack Obama will visit an Ohio factory Friday, trying to associate human faces with the billions of dollars he is asking Congress to approve in an unprecedented economic recovery plan.
Mr. Obama will meet employees of the Cardinal Fastener and Specialty Co. Inc. near Cleveland. The plant makes parts used to manufacture wind turbines. After touring the plant, Mr. Obama will meet with selected employees on the factory floor. The event is not open to the public.
In announcing the visit, Mr. Obama's press office said it was designed to highlight how plants and workers will benefit from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan, which he has said would create or save as many as 4 million jobs. The next day, Mr. Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden will board a train in Philadelphia to return to Washington for Tuesday's inaugural.
