A woman charged yesterday in a Saturday bank heist in Union, Lawrence County, was also behind a robbery at a North Beaver convenience store earlier this month, state police said.
Betty Jo Buteria, 40, and Gregory Lee Wilmouth, 51, both of Edinburg, were arraigned yesterday on charges that they robbed First Merit Bank about 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
State police said Ms. Buteria entered the bank wearing a mask and claimed to have a gun. As she fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, a dye pack given to her with the money detonated, likely injuring her, police said.
It was unclear what role Mr. Wilmouth played in the robbery; state police said only that they arrested him "after an extensive investigation" and the execution of a search warrant yesterday.
They are each being held on $100,000 bond.
Charges are pending against Ms. Buteria in the Jan. 1 robbery at Tic-Toc Food Mart in North Beaver, state police said.
