Commuters warned of black ice; snow, cold on the way
Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Snow is expected to fall across Western Pennsylvania later this morning, but the National Weather Service already is advising commuters to watch for patchy black ice that developed overnight.

The weather service said the icy conditions should dissipate around 8 a.m., but snow will be falling shortly afterward and cause more slick conditions on untreated roads.

Radar in the predawn hours showed snow beginning to fall to the north and west of Pittsburgh. The city and suburban areas may receive 1 to 2 inches today with temperatures starting to fall by this afternoon. Arctic air will cover the region by tonight.

Check out the latest conditions and forecast. Commuters also can access the updated traffic conditions.
