A Wilkinsburg man was arraigned yesterday on charges that he robbed the Golden Corral restaurant Saturday night in Monroeville.
Donald Burch, 36, of Wilkinsburg, was to be charged with four counts of reckless endangerment and one count each of robbery, fleeing and eluding police, receiving stolen property, reckless driving and a weapons violation.
Monroeville police responded to a holdup alarm at 10:54 p.m. at the restaurant. Employees there said the robber, armed with a semiautomatic pistol, took an undisclosed amount of money and ran out the back door to a waiting vehicle.
Police pursued the car east on Route 22 until the suspect crossed the concrete lane divider, which flattened the tires on the passenger side.
The vehicle then crashed into a tree near Luccia Shea's Restaurant.
The suspect exited the vehicle and fled into a wooded area behind the restaurant.
Officers found him in a creek behind Luccia Shea's.
Police also found the stolen money after it was dropped by the suspect. Later, police found the suspect's pistol in the woods behind the restaurant.
