The past week: Wilcox scored 22 points Tuesday as the Peters Township boys' basketball team (10-1) knocked off Upper St. Clair, 63-38. Upper St. Clair was the Post-Gazette's No. 1-ranked WPIAL Class AAAA team. Wilcox also had 15 points in a 59-53 victory Friday against Washington.
Check this out: Wilcox, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound senior, is averaging 21 points a game. He was an all-section pick last year when he averaged 17.6. He also was a standout on the soccer team, scoring 19 regular-season goals for the Class AAA champion Indians. He has not decided on a college but plans to play basketball.
What sport were you better in when you were younger? I'd say soccer. I loved soccer. I started playing soccer when I was 5. You can't get the ball to the hoop in basketball at that age. Basketball kind of caught on with me in fifth grade.
Why do you like basketball better? Because when I'm out there in basketball, I know what I'm doing. It just feels right when I'm playing basketball. In soccer, I kind of just did what the coach told me.
Is the basketball team's success this season a surprise at all? Not at all. We were expecting to be a good team.
Who would you pay to see in concert? Lil' Wayne.
Something that bothers you about basketball? I'd have to say complainers about the refs. We even have a couple kids on our team who always complain about the refs. It makes me mad.

The past week: A 5-foot-11 junior guard, Bresnahan scored 20 points Saturday in a victory at Altoona. Then she had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in another non-section victory Monday against visiting Fox Chapel.
Check this out: She may be one of the WPIAL's top recruits next season. She said she has been offered a scholarship by Vanderbilt, which she visited. She is also interested in Connecticut, Maryland, Pitt, Duquesne and Oklahoma.
Do you know in pregame warmups if you are going to have a big scoring night? I don't think about the points. I just try to get into my game mode and just get into a rhythm and get ready to play.
Why is this Butler team, which won 10 of its first 11 games, better than the other ones in recent years? I think it is because everyone on the team has played a part and everyone has contributed in different ways. I don't know of a team we have had that has been more balanced.
Your assistant coach is former Butler boys' standout Aaron Epps. Does he ever jump into drills in practice? Yes, he does, and he makes practice so much fun that I can't even explain. Sometimes he shows off, where he plays with the JV team and the varsity has to defend him and he throws these ridiculous passes that we can't stop.
If you were an opposing coach, how would you defend you? I don't shoot 3s as much as I should, so I would step off me just a little bit.
Who is the toughest player you have played against? It would probably would be [former Slippery Rock High School and current Vanderbilt player] Jence Rhoads. She is a good ballhandler and so fast when she pulls up and shoots it. She is just so hard to guard.
You can go to dinner anywhere you want. Where do you pick? Oliver Garden. And I get the soup and salad.
The one television show you never miss? Gossip Girl.
