Charges pile up in Tiger Ranch animal cruelty case
Thursday, January 08, 2009

A woman charged last March with 574 counts of animal cruelty after police found hundreds of sick and dying animals on her Frazer property will stand trial on new charges, including forgery and practicing as an unlicensed veterinary doctor.

Linda Bruno, 46, owner of Tiger Ranch animal sanctuary, forged rabies vaccination certificates and administered rabies shots to animals when she was not licensed to do so, according to the district attorney's office.

Ms. Bruno faces seven counts of tampering with public records or information; seven counts of forgery; and three counts of unlicensed practice of veterinary medicine. Her trial is scheduled for July 13.

In March, investigators found underweight, poorly sheltered, malnourished animals suffering from many ailments, including respiratory problems and infectious diseases.

At that time, investigators seized vaccination records and found that several had been forged, and doctors who Ms. Bruno claimed worked for the ranch told them they did not, says an affidavit filed in October.
