Kenneth S. Kornacki, an associate with Metz Lewis LLC, was named by Philadelphia magazine a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Rising Star for 2008. He concentrates on commercial litigation, employment law and adoption.

Daniel J. Swartz, vice president, NexTier Bank, earned a national certification that demonstrates mastery of the field of financial services marketing. He received the Certified Financial Marketing Professional designation from the Institute of Certified Banks, a subsidiary of the American Bankers Association in Washington, D.C.

Universal Stainless & Alloy Products Inc. said that Forbes magazine ranked the company 82nd on its annual list of the 200 Best Small Companies in America for 2008. This is the third consecutive year that Universal Stainless has been included on the list.

Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling topped Qualified Remodeler Magazine's list of the 500 largest remodeling firms in the country. It ranked first in the magazine's August 2008 issue industry rankings feature that includes The Annual National Firms List and The 2008 Top Performers.

Ralph Proctor, Ph.D., chair of the ethnic and diversity studies program at the Community College of Allegheny County was awarded the YWCA 2008 Racial Justice Award for Lifetime Achievement. The YWCA Greater Pittsburgh Racial Justice Awards recognize individuals, companies and organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to eliminate racism. The Lifetime Achievement Award, which is new for the YWCA this year, honors those who have dedicated many years to promoting equal treatment in the workplace, public services, justice system, classroom and the greater community.

Pittsburgh-based Foundation Radiology Group was named by the Radiology Business Journal one of the 50 largest radiology groups in the country.

Hill, Barth, & King LLC said Mark M. Myers, CPA, received the designation of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional from the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals Inc.

Elliott Co. was named Manufacturer of the Year in the large company category by the Pittsburgh Business Times. The annual award goes to the manufacturing company in Western Pennsylvania that most effectively applies business and manufacturing strategies to increase sales, market share and customer satisfaction.

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney said it ranked No. 1 on Central Penn Business Journal's list of top lobbying firms. The list -- ranked by lobbying revenue -- was published in the Nov. 14, 2008, edition of the Central Penn Business Journal.

Plextronics Inc. -- an international technology company that specializes in printed solar, lighting and other organic electronics -- was awarded the 2008 Technical Development Materials Award by IDTechEx.
