Registration is under way for a three-credit special topics course on Domestic Terrorism and Homeland Security to be offered from 6 to 8:50 p.m. Mondays starting next week through May 11 at the Community College of Beaver County.
The course, offered by the CCBC Criminal Justice Department, will provide an overview of how the war on terrorism in the United States has impacted citizens, government, fire and police departments and the aviation industry.
The class will be taught by Ted L. Traver, of Beaver Falls, a Federal Air Marshal Service employee, who prior to transferring to the Pittsburgh office, was the primary firearms instructor for the Federal Air Marshal Training Division in Atlantic City, N.J.
Registration continues through Jan. 16 in the Information and Registration Center in the Student Union Building lobby, or by calling 1-800-335-0222.
Nomination forms are available until Jan. 30 for the Center Alumni Hall of Fame Class of 2009.
Forms are available in the Center Area High School office or on the Center Area School District Web site, www.casd.k12.pa.us.

Individuals will be eligible for nomination 10 years after graduation. Anyone may nominate a candidate -- living or deceased.
Riders on seven West Port Authority bus routes in Downtown will have their routes detoured starting today and continuing through summer because of work associated with the construction of a new Gateway T station.
The outbound portions of these routes will be affected because portions of Stanwix Street will be closed: 26E Robinson, 28E Robinson Express, 28M Campbells Run Express, 31D Bridgeville via Washington Avenue, 31E Bridgeville via Main Street, 33D Bridgeville Express via Washington Avenue and 33E Bridgeville Express via Main Street.
Buses will detour from Penn Avenue onto Fifth Avenue Extension and Liberty Avenue. No service stops will be affected.
