NFL Notebook: Grimm to interview with Jets
Tuesday, January 06, 2009

The New York Jets will interview Cardinals offensive line coach Russ Grimm on Thursday in Arizona about their coaching vacancy, a person familiar with the search said.

Grimm, 49, is in his second season with the Cardinals, who play at Carolina in the NFC divisional playoffs Saturday.

Jets owner Woody Johnson and general manager Mike Tannenbaum will make the trip to Arizona for the interview, according to the person, who requested anonymity.

Boston College coach Jeff Jagodzinski has also been invited to interview for the job, a school official told The AP, and the school has reportedly threatened to fire him if he goes through with it.

Chargers

LaDainian Tomlinson isn't sure if a week's worth of treatment and rest is going to be enough to allow him to play in San Diego's playoff game in Pittsburgh. "I don't know. It's tough," Tomlinson said after the Chargers' light workout yesterday. "This is a tough injury. I would probably venture to say it's probably the toughest of my career. We'll see what happens."

Patriots

Scott Pioli has become a hot commodity among a few teams hoping to rebuild. Pioli, one of the architects behind New England's three Super Bowl victories, is talking to Kansas City about its vacant general manager's job. He has also been courted by Cleveland for its GM position. The 43-year-old Pioli was scheduled to meet with Chiefs owner Clark Hunt.

Colts

Tony Dungy will spend this week contemplating his future as coach in Indianapolis, continuing his annual ritual of heading home to Tampa, Fla., to determine whether he can adequately balance football life with family life. "The bottom line is we have a fun team to coach. We have some great players, we have a team I know can win, and I still enjoy it."

Packers

Green Bay has cleaned house, releasing defensive coordinator Bob Sanders and five other assistant coaches.
