JD32Pittsburgh: Is 10 points too high for the point spread considering Penn St. is the underdog?
Ron Musselman: I think 10 points is about right. I think USC is a better team overall, but I would not be surprised if Penn State won the game. Either way, I think it will be a tight game, but if ends up being a blowout, I think that would favor the Trojans. The one thing that bothers me is Penn State's lack of depth at quarterback behind Daryll Clark. The offensive line better bring extra protection.
LonelyWifeofBurghGuy68: Ron, do you think Coach will implement some trickeration?
Ron Musselman: Trickeration. Is that a new word in Happy Valley or is that from Joe's first year in 1950? All Kidding aside, I think there will definitely be some trickery involved in the game plan given the 40-day layoff between games. I would expected Derrick Williams to take some direct snaps at quarterback to try and protect Clark from running.
JD32Pittsburgh: How is Joe's knee and will he be on the sidelines for the game or in the press box ?
Ron Musselman: He said earlier that he would make that decision later today. My guess is he will be back in the coaches' booth for the eighth consecutive game. I think he is a little nervous about getting hit or run into again and I think that's why he has been wavering on a decision.
VegasTownsendFan: Hows Daryll Clark feeling about his first start in a major bowl game?
Ron Musselman: Clark is feeling much better after coming off that career day against Michigan State in the finale. He was really looking forward to meeting with former Penn State quarterback Michael Robinson today. Robinson has taken Clark under his wing and has been his mentor the entire season.
JD32Pittsburgh: How many tickets did Penn State fans scoop up for this game?
Ron Musselman: Penn State sold its entire allotment of 25,000, which is not surprising, considering the Lions are playing in just their Rose Bowl ever. It would been interesting to see how many they would have sold had the opponent been Oregon State. That was matchup no one wanted. I am just happy Pitt will take the field against the Beavers and Penn State.
bg_steele: What's the most memorable moment for Penn State in 2008?
Ron Musselman: Aaron Maybin blossoming into a star at defensive end after Maurice Evans got into trouble for smoking marijuana. Maybin has been a force most of the season after being a part-time player last year.
JD32Pittsburgh: Will Derrick Willams get time as a slash guy and what do you see from Royster and Green in the running game on Thursday?
Ron Musselman: I do see Derrick Williams getting about 10 snaps from the shotgun formation at quarterback. Rosyter should be fine but he will have to work hard to put up decent numbers against USC's top-ranked defense. Green is a nice change-up, but he hasn't been a favor in big games most of the year.
JD32Pittsburgh: How do you Sean Lee in 2009 coming back from serious injury and surgery?
Ron Musselman: I think Sean Lee will be fine. He said today he is feeling better but is not happy about being on the sideline for the game. I would expect him to bounce back strongly next year.
JD32Pittsburgh: Ron who is favored early in your eyes for the Big Ten title in 2009?
Ron Musselman: I am still trying to finish 2008 even though the Rose Bowl will be played on the first day of 2009. Without giving it much thought, I would say Ohio State and Penn State should be pretty strong next year.
Will_from_Freehold__NJ: Do you think Daryll Clark runs out of the pocket too soon at times? It seems that way to me. Your thoughts?
Ron Musselman: No, I think Clark has had to run a lot this year because as the season has moved on, teams have putting more pressure on him. He has a pretty average three-game stretch before the Michigan State game. I would expect Clark to run only when he has to against USC.
LonelyWifeofBurghGuy68: Did Devlin go to Delaware?
Ron Musselman: Yeas, he is supposed to enroll there next month. Who knows, maybe he will become the next Joe Flacco.
WyomingBowHunter: Ron, in order for Penn State to win, will they need to establish the running game, and use a conservative approach with sound decisions, or will Daryll Clark need to pass a lot?
Ron Musselman: I do think Penn State will need to play an error-free game to have a chance to beat USC.
LonelyWifeofBurghGuy68: Ron, who has the better looking cheerleaders...PSU or USC?
Ron Musselman: I'll let you make that call.
