Marisa Wolfe

Ford City

The past week: A 6-foot-3 senior basketball standout, Wolfe scored 23 points in a WPIAL Class AA Section 1 victory against Freeport and 19 in another section win against Deer Lakes. She is one of the top post players in the WPIAL and has propelled her team to an 8-0 start.

Check this out: Wolfe has signed with Penn State and said the Nittany Lions plan to use her at the three and four positions.

Why Penn State? I liked the atmosphere so much up there. Because of the coaching staff and then it is close to home and my family can see me play. It was just the right place.

How frustrating is it that teams throw all kinds of junk defenses at you? It gets pretty annoying. It is hard to do anything sometimes once I get into the paint because they have three players around me. So, yes, sometimes it gets frustrating.

If you were an opposing coach, how would you defend you? Exactly how they are defending me right now. I take one step near the paint, and they all come down on me, then, when I step outside, they let me catch it. I would probably do the same thing or play a box-and-one.

Who is the toughest player you have ever played against? I have played against Glory Johnson, and she was amazing, I played against her in AAU a couple years ago. She is a freshman at Tennessee right now and she is playing for them, I mean really playing for them.

Your parents tell you they will take you to dinner anywhere you want. Where do you pick? I'd go with Olive Garden, definitely. And I would have to get the salad and breadsticks first, of course. After that, the chicken and gnocchi.

The one television show that you never miss? It used to be Grey's Anatomy, I would never miss that show. But now, there is nothing new that I watch.

Christian Shea

Upper St. Clair

The past week: Shea had an unforgettable three days in the KSA Classic at Disney World in Orlando. He had 21 3-pointers in three games, including eight in one contest, as Upper St. Clair won the tournament championship. Shea averaged 28.7 points in three games and also scored 15 in a victory Tuesday night against Bethel Park.

Check this out: Shea, a 6-foot, 180-pound senior guard, is averaging 19.2 points and four 3-pointers a game for the Panthers (8-1), the Post-Gazette's No. 1-ranked WPIAL Class AAAA team. He has been a starter since his freshman year, and some Division II colleges are expressing interest in him.

You have always been a good shooter, but 21 3's in three games? I don't know. Going down there to that tournament, no one really knew about me, so I was getting a lot of open shots.

What is the feeling like when you are shooting that way? Just every time you're on offense, you want to get the ball and try to do something.

Is WPIAL Class AAAA wide open this year? Yeah, I don't see one team that is dominant over everyone else.

What is your opinion of Disney World? You do a lot of waiting in lines. That was my second time there, and it's still pretty fun, but there are a lot of weird people there, too.

Tell me something about your coach, Danny Holzer, that people don't know: He can't say elbow. He always says 'Albow.'

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Hopefully graduated from college with a good job.
