Icy roads, school delays and closings in northern counties
Friday, December 19, 2008

While rain is falling across much of southwestern Pennsylvania this morning, temperatures are hovering around the freezing point, so some commuters, especially to the north of Pittsburgh, may find driving slick.

Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Indiana and Lawrence counties are under a winter weather advisory until 11 a.m. Freezing rain likely will coat roadways and sidewalks with ice. There are some school delays being reported in these areas. See information about school closings and delays on KDKA.com, the Post-Gazette's news partner.

Farther north, winter storm warnings are in effect until 4 p.m. for Erie, Crawford, Clarion, Forest, Jefferson, Mercer and Venango counties. Several inches of snow could fall in these areas before changing to freezing rain.

Check out the latest conditions and forecast to help plan the day ahead. Commuters also can access the updated traffic conditions.
