Regional home sales, prices fall

Pittsburgh area residential real estate sales and prices were down in November compared to one year ago, according to RealSTATs, a real estate information service.

The five-county median price slid from $116,750 in November 2007 to $115,000 last month, a drop of 1.5 percent. The region's average price dropped 2.5 percent from $149,830 to $146,121.

Washington County residential real estate saw the most sizeable decline in average price with a 12.8 percent drop from last year. Beaver County prices fell 11 percent. Allegheny County prices slid 5.3 percent while Butler County home prices decreased only 0.3 percent. The average home price in Westmoreland County jumped, however, from $127,690 in November 2007 to $155,362 last month.
