The Pirates have made a minor league contract offer to free-agent reliever Chris Bootcheck, two sources confirmed, but the team said this morning that no agreement has been reached.
Bootcheck, 30, is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound right-hander who spent parts of the past five seasons with the Los Angeles Angels and posted a 6.04 ERA in 77 appearances, including a 10.13 ERA in 10 appearances while pitching through elbow trouble this past season. He has 92 career strikeouts and 55 walks in 132 innings.
