On the Radar: Things to watch and people to look for in district high school sports
Friday, December 12, 2008
Pat Eger, Thomas Jefferson

The Jaguars' football offense stands Pat behind this 6-foot-6, 275-pound senior tackle. He and his talented line mates help open holes for one of the top running games in the state. Eger has made a verbal commitment to West Virginia University.

Joe Waltko, North Allegheny

As a wrestler, Waltko is no average Joe. A senior, he's one of the top wrestlers in the WPIAL and recently finished second in the 135-pound division at the Ironman Tournament in Ohio. The tournament is considered one of the tops in the country.

Nick Novak, Franklin Regional

Opponents are "Nicked" up after a game with the Franklin Regional basketball team. Novak scored 40 and 34 points the first two games of the season.

Montour hockey team

Zach Milnarcik, Michael Harrington and Michael Zagan. Just call them "Lethal Weapons III." They score often and assist on goals often. They are the top three scorers in PIHL Class AA with 25, 22 and 21 points.

Meagan Mastroianni, Montour

Her father, Mike, is a two-time Post-Gazette Coach of the Year, and dad apparently taught the daughter a thing or two. Meagan Mastroianni, only a sophomore, scored 24 in the season opener. Mike Mastroianni is Quaker Valley's boys' coach.
