Fire damages Washington County home
Tuesday, December 09, 2008

Refuse workers reported suspicious smoke this morning, a call that may have limited damaged to a Washington County home that had caught fire, police said.

A worker for Waste Management Inc. called police in Centerville at about 9:45 a.m. because he had seen smoke coming from a house in the 100 block of Noble Road in Centerville.

Police arrived and confirmed the house was on fire, and the fire department immediately was summoned.

The fire was brought under control, with assistance from at least three neighboring fire companies, but not before the second floor of the home had been gutted, police said.

No injuries were reported. No one was at home at the time, and firefighters had to force entry to get to the flames.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause.
