Jury convicts former Brentwood Council president of fraud
Thursday, December 04, 2008

An Allegheny County jury today found the former president of Brentwood council guilty of felony credit card fraud.

Mary Dytko, 48, used the borough's Sam's Club card to purchase more than $2,500 of items for her personal use. Though she reimbursed the borough for some of those things, the repayments were late and infrequent. She didn't pay back the final $723.76 until after her June 2007 arrest.

Ms. Dytko will be sentenced by Senior Common Pleas Judge John K. Reilly on Feb. 2. She was convicted of six felony counts of credit card fraud a decade ago and pleaded guilty this week to hiding those convictions on required disclosure forms when she ran for office.

Given that record, Assistant District Attorney Lawrence Claus said he would argue for a one to two-year sentence in state prison.
