Has post-Black Friday shopping left you sugarplum-tuckered out?

Not to worry. We've compiled plenty of relaxing Holiday Happenings in South to keep you festively a foot.

There's lots to choose from: seasonal concerts, learning how to make holiday bird treats, a creche slide show, and even a chance to solve Rudolph's murder!

So get all gussied up, and paint the town red -- and green!

Baldwin Borough

Mystery's Most Wanted will present "Slay Ride or Rudolph the Dead-nosed Reindeer!," a holiday murder mystery, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Baldwin Borough Public Library, 41 Macek Drive. Geared to teens. Register by tomorrow.

The library offers these programs, too:

• Family Fun Time: Build a Gingerbread House, Dec. 13. Session one is at 11 a.m.; session two, 1 p.m. Open to all ages. Register by tomorrow.

• Family Fun Time: Holiday Party, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 17. Mrs. Claus will visit to share Santa's favorite stories and snacks. Bring a camera. Register by Dec. 12.

Bethel Park

Since holidays are notorious for critical shortages of area blood reserves, Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company, 5213 Brightwood Road, will sponsor a holiday blood drive for Central Blood Bank from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 13.

Children will be given fire house tours and apparatus demonstrations while their adult caregivers complete their donation. Appointments are recommended but walk-ins are welcome.

• Bethel Park Public Library, 5100 W. Library Ave., will offer songs, a play and a visit from You-Know-Who during holiday story time at 11 a.m. Dec. 13. To register, call 412-835-2207.

• The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh will present "Gifts of the Season," a holiday concert under the direction of Cynthia G. Pratt, accompanied by Carol Karl, at 8 p.m. Sunday at Brightwood Christian Church, 5044 W. Library Road. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the Singers' charitable efforts. A social hour with complementary refreshments, and a holiday cookie sale, will follow.

• The Women of Christ United Methodist Church will celebrate the season with a Christmas luncheon at noon next Thursday in the Christian Life Center, 44 Highland Road. A Carnegie Museum of Art representative will present "The First Noel," a slide show and discussion of the 18th century Neapolitan Presepio, or Nativity creche, displayed every Christmas. The slide show begins with an exploration of the Madonna and Child in art and ends with photos of recent years' annual displays of inventively decorated Christmas trees in the Hall of Architecture. Cost is $8.

Also, the church's Active Adult Association is accepting reservations for a holiday luncheon and musical program by the Char Val Singers at noon Dec. 10 in the Christian Life Center. Cost is $6.

Brentwood

Zion Lutheran Church, Route 51 and Brownsville Road, will present its annual Advent-Christmas concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The church choirs will be led by Keith Kirchartz. For more information, call 412-881-5512.

• The Mary & Martha Woman's Group at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4048 Brownsville Road, will host a Christmas tea party from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. At that time, the group also will collect items to send to U.S. troops for Christmas, including food, personal hygiene items, school supplies, and letters and cards of support.

Worship services on Christmas Eve will be at 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Dec. 24; Christmas day, 10 a.m. Dec. 25.

Elizabeth Borough

Elizabeth Baptist Church, 735 Bunola River Road, will host its 27th annual community Christmas carol festival at 7 p.m. Sunday, with performances by several choirs and soloists, scripture readings and caroling.

An offering will be taken to benefit the Elizabeth Borough Clergy Food Bank. Those attending also is asked to bring canned goods or other nonperishable items for the food bank. For more, call 412-384-6464.

Elizabeth Township

The 80-voice Elizabeth Forward Area Community Chorus will present a Christmas concert titled "Piercing The Darkness" at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, in the Elizabeth Forward High School, off Route 48 and Weigles Hill Road. It will feature the Junior Chorus. Ticket prices at the door are $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and students. A $2 discount is available on advance purchases. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Donations of nonperishable items, such as peanut butter, toilet and facial tissue, laundry detergent, diapers, tuna and canned fruit, will be collected for the food bank. Call 412-751-0526.

Glassport

Light-Up Night will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Honor Roll, Fifth and Monongahela avenues. Immediately following, refreshments, entertainment, and a visit from Santa Claus will take place in the American Legion across the street. The free event is sponsored by the Glassport Parks and Recreation.

Green Tree

Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church will have "A Special Season of Advent" services at 11 a.m. Sunday mornings this month. Music by "Emmanuel -- God Is With Us" by church choir and orchestra, plus refreshments after the service.

McKeesport

The city's annual Festival of Trees will be from noon to 9 p.m. today through Tuesday at the Jacob Woll Pavilion in Renziehausen Park, off Eden Park Boulevard, with musical entertainment daily.

As part of the festival, the Public Works department will sponsor a Sleighay Ride through the candle-lit park from 5 to 8 p.m. today, tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday; and from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There also will be a bake sale by the Semper Fidelis Club; photos with Santa, noon to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 9 p.m. daily; and a holiday display, train layout, children's activities and more at the Heritage Center. Children are encouraged to bring letters to Santa to hang on the Recreation Board tree, and the McKeesport Garden Club will sell fresh greens, crafts and auction tickets.

Cost is $2 for adults; free for children 12 and younger if they bring a canned good to donate to the local food bank.

Mt. Lebanon

Mt. Lebanon Nature Conservancy will sponsor "Holiday for the Birds" from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Lebanon Public Library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd. The free program for children ages 3-7 will include making treats for backyard birds, story time with Verna McGinley, and a snack.

Munhall

Anne Ashley United Methodist Church and Homestead Presbyterian Church will sponsor "A Night in Bethlehem," from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday in Anne Ashley Fellowship Hall, 334 22nd St. The free family program will include marketplace tents and volunteers dressed in period costumes.

Round trip shuttle busses will leave the Homestead church, 908 Ninth Ave., at 2:45 and 3:15 p.m. For more, call 412-462-3134.

Pleasant Hills

Pleasant Hills Public Library, 302 Old Clairton Road, will host a trim-the-tree party from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday. Adults and children can create ornaments for the library's tree, while Thomas Jefferson High School String Ensemble entertains. The evening will include story time, cookie decorating, a journal for writing a favorite holiday memory, and making a take-home ornament. Punch, hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

Adults can make a live holiday centerpiece during a program at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16. Cost for material, $25, must be paid in cash by Tuesday.

South Park

Peters Creek Baptist Church, 6300 Baptist Road, will host a Christmas concert featuring the choir, musicians and vocalists from the church, at 7 p.m. Dec. 12.

Christmas Eve candlelight services will be held at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church.

Southwide

River City Brass Band presents "And The Angels Sing," at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Park High School, 309 Church Road, Bethel Park; and at 8 p.m. next Thursday in Upper St. Clair High School, 1820 McLaughlin Run Road, Upper St. Clair. Ticket cost varies. Call 1-800-292-7222.

Upper St. Clair

The Sounds of Pittsburgh Chorus will present "A USO Christmas Show" at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at Upper St. Clair High School, 1825 McLaughlin Run Road. Highlights include performances by chorus quartets and Singchronized, a young women's quartet from Peters Township High School.

Tickets are $18 for adults --$20 at the door -- and $10 for children age 12 and younger. Tickets will only be held at the door until 15 minutes prior to showtime.

A catered dinner will follow in the school cafeteria for $22 per person. A portion of show proceeds will benefit the United Service Organizations, serving those in the armed forces. For tickets or more, call Carole Melle at 412-921-7621.

• A free Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2040 Washington Road, will feature Sara Botkin, soprano, and Gretchen Van Hoesen, principal harpist of the Pittsburgh Symphony, performing holiday favorites from their recent CD, "Breath of Heaven: A Christmas Collection." Special guest performers include tenor David Knouse, soprano Caroline Campanella, organist Jim Burns and Pittsburgh Symphony oboist James Gorton. A reception will follow.

Whitehall

Santa Claus will visit the Franciscan Child Day Care Center Scholastic Book fair at 11 a.m. Dec. 13. The center, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God, will host the book fair from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 12 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at 1401 Hamilton Road. There will be raffles and a showing of "Madagascar," plus special appearances by Clifford, Curious George and Geronimo Stilton. Proceeds will help to build a new playground.
