Seven local mosques have joined in condemning the series of bombings, shootings and hostage-taking that have left more than 140 people dead in Mumbai, India.
"We are appalled and disgusted by these heinous acts and wanton loss of life. We are doubly outraged that such acts are carried out in the name of Islam," said the statement from the Islamic Council of Greater Pittsburgh. It represents seven Islamic worship sites and community centers in Pittsburgh and its suburbs.
"It is indeed with great sadness and a heavy heart that we receive the news in the midst of this season of reflection and celebration shared by many faiths. We pray for the victims and their families and we pray that this dark chapter in the history of mankind, too, shall pass," the statement said.
