ART

Butler -- Associated Artists of Butler County features Kids ART Events from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St. Now through Dec. 4, ages 6-13 can enter a Steelers coloring contest. Prizes will be awarded Dec. 5 during the Holiday Show & Sale opening. CONCERTS

Butler -- "The Mass of Hope," a jazz Mass written by Joe Negri, will be performed by two professional cantors and Butler Intermediate and Senior High School student choirs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Intermediate High School auditorium, 551 Fairground Hill Road. Butler -- The Pittsburgh Philharmonic will perform a holiday concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 12 at Butler County Community College Succop Theater. Richland -- Semifinalist singers from the 2008 Kean Idol competition will reunite to perform a holiday concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 13 at St. Barnabas Health System Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road. Slippery Rock -- The vocal harmony group The Four Freshmen will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Slippery Rock University Miller Auditorium. HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS

Butler -- View a holiday miniature railroad display, among other exhibits, at Butler County Heritage Center, 119 W. New Castle St. Refreshments will be served opening day from noon to 4 p.m. today. Butler -- Butler County Parks and Recreation will hold Light Up Night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Carousel Shelter. Take part in a flashlight candy cane hunt, crafts, refreshments, a visit from Santa Claus and carol singing. Cost is $5. Registration required; call 724-284-5383.

Richland/Valencia -- St. Barnabas Charities will serve a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday to those who can't share the holiday with family at two sites: St. Barnabas Nursing Home dining room, 5827 Meridian Road, Richland, or at Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas, 85 Charity Place, Valencia. LIBRARIES

Richland -- Northern Tier Library, 4015 Dickey Road, will close at 4 p.m. Wednesday for Thanksgiving. The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. The Pine Center, inside Pine-Richland High School, 700 Warrendale Road, will be closed Thursday through Dec. 1.

SEMINARS

Richland -- Dr. Ditte Karlovits, of Bellevue Pediatrics, will present a discussion on how to promote good nutrition for picky eaters at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Northern Tier Library, 4015 Dickey Road. Registration required; call 724-449-2665.

Richland -- Heartland Hospice and Northern Tier Library will hold an event for grieving families with children ages 5 through 12 Dec. 1 at the library, 4015 Dickey Road. TUTORING

Cranberry -- Free private tutoring is offered as a community service by Oak Hill Alliance Church, 2782 Rochester Road. Children's educational and spiritual needs are addressed using materials that reflect Christian values. Children meet one-on-one with the same tutor each week. Tutors assist students with school work and strengthen basic reading, math, and study skills. Due to the personal attention that each child receives, space is limited.
