Penn State hikes fees for room and board
Friday, November 21, 2008

Penn State University, citing rises in operating costs, will raise average room and board charges by 5.87 percent, or $450 a year, for the 2009-10 academic year, officials announced today.

The new rates were approved during a meeting of school trustees at University Park.

In a statement, Penn State said the vote brings the average rate -- including a standard double-occupancy room and most common meal plan -- to $8,120 a year.
